Home Evening Activities!!!

So this post will probably not be super interesting, but I wanted to write down some stuff, and get some feedback. I'm a home evening leader for my church [learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints here], which means that me and another guy in our group plan activities on Monday nights for a small group of single adults. It's like family home evening, except since most of us don't live near our families, we get together as sort of a pseudo-family. It's super fun! I'm quickly running out of ideas of what we could do though for activities...

So family~ tonight we talked about some ideas for activities, which I will list, and then you should comment if you think of others, and also comment which ones sound the most fun. I also am adding a few I thought of myself.

1. Go to the Bean Museum. It's free, and pretty awesome. I think we'll probably do that next week.
2. Have a mini-Thanksgiving. Like every apartment brings some stuff and we all sit around and eat and talk.
3. Go Christmas caroling! We could carol to people in the ward, or to members of the bishopric, or whoever!
4. Decorate (Christmas) cookies and give them away. And eat them.
5. Decorate stockings for ourselves, and then writing notes to each other to put inside them. Plus candy, obviously.
6. Decorate stockings for others, fill with notes and candy. I guess that's more giving haha.
7. Go ice skating.
8. Go sledding/build a snowman. We kind of need snow first.
9. Capture the flag or football with another HE group.
10. Make mormon.org profiles. Together. Is that weird? I don't know if you guys already have them...
11. Make a family Christmas card! We all dress up in some matchy-matchy way, take a picture as a family, and then print a bunch out and send them to people. Here's a delightful one of the Kardashians I found here.

Also, dear HE group, I want to put together a trip to Temple Square to see the lights some week after Thanksgiving. We probably won't do this on a Monday. I'm guessing it'll work better for people on the weekend. That way we could do dinner before or something!! Start thinking of what weekend (or weekday I guess) will work best for you to go to SLC.

Bring on the ideas!

Pinterest

Does anybody else LOVE pinterest? Because I do. To show you how awesome it is, I will show you some of my most favorite treasures found on pinterest. Clicking on the pictures will take you to their pinterest source.

This just makes me laugh. Or cry with fear. Both.

I know, I'm really mature. But I can't stop giggling.

Haha. But seriously.

There's lots of pretty pictures too. Like Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette.

HAHAHA oh Malfoy.

A quizzical cat wearing a scarf. What's not to love?

Single ladies statue.

Anything with cats, obviously.

Lots of cutsie stuff too, that's just plain pretty.

Anyways, if you don't use pinterest...maybe you shouldn't. It takes too much time. I like it too much. haha.

Here's to Dad

Again, sorry I never post anymore. Someday I will. I just wanted to share these pictures, which were scanned by my ghetto document scanner, or in other words, really poor quality.

I love this picture of me and my dad. This is the same face I've seen Dad make for the last 21 years anytime you try to talk to him while he's sleeping.

This is a more recent picture, I think from my senior year of high school. It was at some daddy-daughter Young Women's activity, which is why it has the cutesy frame. Neither of us are really into that sort of activity, but we had fun. I like this picture because it looks like we had just been laughing, because we had. We tried to first get my yw leader to take a picture of my dad putting me in a headlock or something, but she didn't like that. Haha.

I love spending time with my dad. One memory I have is my...tenth? birthday I want to say. My mom got me a new outfit from Limited Too, and I wore it on a birthday date with just me and my dad. We went to Hibachi for dinner, and then we went go-carting. It was special to me, and still is.

One of my other favorite memories of my dad is from high school. I got really really sick at school, I'll spare you the details, but my dad came to pick me up. I couldn't even walk, and I was crying and dry heaving because I was in pain. So he picked me up and carried me to the car, at sixteen years old, while I cried, and he huffed and puffed a little (I was squishing his diaphragm I think), and my butt crack was showing (ha ha). He's a really caring person.

Dad, I love you so much! You are the smartest person I have ever known, and one of the most knowledgeable in the Gospel. You give good advice, and you're a good listener, and you're good and making me feel better when I feel hysterical or upset. Thanks for being a good dad to me, and being a good example and teaching me about the Gospel. Happy Father's Day! I love you.

Momma

I should be able to blog more now that I'm back into the swing of things, but I thought I'd start it up with a post about my mommy!

This is my mom (and me):

She's the greatest. Seriously.

She and my dad have raised us in the LDS Church. This is the most important thing in my life.

She likes to cuddle. She gives us all several hugs a day.

She likes to be silly. That's one of my favorite things about her. She likes crude jokes more than the rest of us. :)

She puts up with us when we're being big fat pains. (See face below.)

Momma, I love you so much! You are my best friend, and a super mom. I'm thankful that God put us together so that I could learn from you. You have taught me a lot about being a good person. Happy Mother's Day!

Rabbits? Cat lady?

Sorry I haven't posted for awhile. It's the end of the semester ya know, so I've been pretending that I'm busy. Really I'm less busy probably. Anyways.

I'm excited to move into my new place in a couple weeks. I hate the last couple weeks in one place, because you know you're moving soon, and it's just weird. I'm excited to have my own room 'cause I'm gonna make it pretty and all mine all mine all mine! Sorry. Me monster.

On another note, I might be a hidden cat lady inside. And I've been thinking about bunnies.

I mean, seriously, they're really cute. I sort of want one. It's okay, it wouldn't get lost, because I'd put it on this:

Photo credit here. A website called Rabbit Mart. You should buy one for your bunny. It would work.

Anyways, that's it. I'll write more when this semester is over.

The many chins of Erin

I considered not putting this up, but then thought, who really cares? And who really reads this? So I cut it down to fewer pictures. There were probably hundreds that I could have posted. These are the best. I haven't posted for like a weekish, and I feel lame. I really thought I'd be doing this thing a couple times a week, but that hasn't happened. So, real quick, I'm going to make it up to you by introducing you to the most unphotogenic and creepy faces that make no sense and are funny or gross. These are my faces. And most of them are double (septuple) chin pics. Enjoy:

This one is not only a double chin but has the added bonus of me having three snaggleteeth.

I see four chins...you?

At least three.

And my absolute favorite:

Wasn't that all worth it?

I hope you don't think less of me.

Things I like that start with the letter D...just go with it.

This sort of came about because I thought of a couple things I might want to talk about, and a couple happened to start with D, so then I got the idea of making a list of things I like that start with that very letter. And considering I have 3 followers, who really cares what my posts are about?

1. Disney
Who doesn't love Disney movies? Except a girl at work who said it was weird that adults at BYU love Disney movies. But everyone else does. Here are some I've been thinking about:

Ain't he cute?

I've been wanting to get Oliver and Company for like a year or more because all the music is written by Billy Joel. But I still haven't, because it's kind of expensive at Walmart. But I should order it on Amazon.Sometime.

"But I don't wanna kick the other kids' butts."

I will always love Mulan. So many memories. My Dad took me/us to see it a few times in theaters, and I loved it. One time we watched it at Kristen's (9th?) birthday party and I was singing along and everyone thought it was really annoying and I was embarrassed. hee hee.

2. Deseret Industries aka D.I.
I have gotten some of the best things on the planet from D.I. For those of you non-Utahns, D.I. is basically Savers but times a bajillion. So good. I have collected 2 small busts of classical composers, several cheesy books, skirts and dresses, costumes, a George Foreman grill, puzzles.

The Mozart bust. What a gem.

 3. Diet Coke
Anyone that knows me semi-well knows that I'm actually addicted to all sodas, but Diet Coke is a fave.

4. Ditzy things Tessa says.
Seriously guys, she says the best things. She gave me permission to tell you, don't worry. Here are a few examples:

"I just farted in my mouth." She meant that she made a fart noise with her mouth, but it sounded so gross. And I laughed really hard.

"Wait, I thought that was in a balcony." We were talking about JFK's assassination, and I mentioned how he was in a car, and this is what she said. Then I said...no, that was Abraham Lincoln. Hahahaaha.

"Que...hora...es?" One time I came into our room late at night in a towel, and Tessa was already sleeping. As I was about to start changing, I glanced back at Tessa to make sure she was truly asleep, and she was sitting up in her bed. This kind of frightened me. Then, in her sleep, she said, "Que...hora...es?" in a super creepy voice. Best thing ever.

5. Dancing. PS I'm taking a beginner's jazz class during Spring Semester. I think.

6. Dogs. But I haven't had one in forever. I still like them.

As a side note, things I don't like that start with D include, but are not limited to: driving, doing dishes, and sometimes the dark.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Admit it, you love the Fresh Prince.

So I listened to "Wild Wild West" by Will Smith on the way to work this morning. I kind of really love that song. My secret is that I've never seen the movie, but I remember hearing the song when I was a kid. Actually, I saw a hip-hop dance to it when I was a kid in a dance recital (I was doing ballet of course) (and/or Spanish dancing probably haha). Anyways, I thought this girl looked so cool dancing to this song, and she did a body roll. Which I thought was pretty cool. Which led me to teach myself how to do a body roll.

So then later today, I listened to the song again, and then I looked up "Gettin Jiggy With It" and I was listening but not really watching the video. Then I looked back at the video, and Will Smith was dressed as an Egyptian? I thought maybe you should watch it for yourself. It has some pretty great costumes/outfits.

So that's what I've been thinking about today.

PS Did I ever tell you my Dad, my Dad, had the Big Willy Style album? I love my Dad.

A blog a blog a blog!

I've been wanting to have a blog for awhile, but I didn't really know anyone personally that had a blog. But then Haley told me she had a blog, so now I don't feel stupid anymore! So here's getting my first awkward post out of the way.

SO MAJESTIC!!! (sung)
